How News Works
The Internet is huge, enormous even. With so much content out there, how can we root through the rubbish and discover the gems? Hope has arrived in the form of WhozNews!
The best of the best in what the Internet has to offer has is featured front and center on the WhozNews homepage. Who decides what qualifies as the best of the best? YOU!
WhozNews members submit a story, you read it, and decide if it was worth reading. When you come a cross a really great article-one that is interesting, informative, funny, or even downright wacky-you award it a ''Get.''
A Get is like a vote. When you an award a get, it's like saying, ''I vote for this article to make it to the top of the page!''
You can award one Get per article. (We wouldn't want anyone artificially manipulating the rankings.) The number of Gets an article has received is displayed next to the article. The articles that receive the most Gets move to the top. It's as simple as that!
If you accidentally ''Get'' an article, don't worry! You can un-Get by clicking on ????
At WhozNews, we like to stick to the positive. When you come across a story you like, give it a ''Get.'' When you come across a story you don't like, just move on to the next article.
WhozNews decided not to provide an option for giving a story an ''anti-Get.'' Instead, the number of Gets (or lack thereof) will determine if an article sinks or swims. The end result is the same, but this way we're showing nothing but love!
WhozNews is different from other sites. WhozNews allows you to submit news, blog posts, stories you find on the web…and original content written by you! By submitting your original article or blog post, you'll be sharing your work with thousands of readers.
Your work will get wide-spread exposure, and through the Get system, you can see how are those are responding to your writing.
If a WhozNews member really likes something you've written, they have the option of reprinting it on their website or eZine. Cool, right? You get full credit as the author, and you'll be establishing yourself as an expert on a given subject.
Your member profile features a list of stories you awarded a Get-giving you a chance to meet other members with similar tastes and interests. The list also serves as a reference so you can easily locate your favorite stories again in the future.
At the present time, users can only submit written works. But we've got plans for adding a video section in the future, so check back often!
