1.Benefits of Keyboard Navigation

Users with visual impairments who use text-to-speech screen readers, like JAWS, benefit from tabbed navigation. Users with certain physical impairments benefit from it as it provides alternative and efficient forms of navigation for those users who have difficulty manipulating amouse to navigate through a website and who prefer to navigate using their keyboard.

2.Standards compliance

Every page on this site is designed to comply with all priority 3 guidelines of the W3C Web Content AccessibilityGuidelines and conforms to all standards in Section 508 (29 U.S.C. 794d) of the Rehabilitation Act. We will continue to review and seek to extend compliance with these and other accessibility guidelines.

3.Navigation aids

Every page on this site begins with invisible "Skip to main content", "Skip to navigation", and "Skip to Footer" links which allows users of text only and screen reader browsers to skip over page headers and navigation bars and go straight to the either the main navigation menu or the main page content.

5.Images

All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Screen readers read will read this text, and text-only browsers will display it so that, at the very least, users who have problems in seeing images can access clearly what the images are communicating.

6.Visual design

This site uses cascading style sheets for its visual layout and text formatting.

The size of all of the text on this site can be manipulated by users via the "text size" options in visual browsers. All key content, all body text and of all of the text contained in navigation menus can be increased or decreased by users.

If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.

7.Meaningful Contents Division

We have divided large blocks of information into more manageable groups where natural and appropriate.

H1 tags are used for webpage title, H2 tags are used for the main contents, header and footer and H3 for the sidebar sections. Screen readers navigate through pages by headings and sub-headings when they are properly marked-up in this way.

The use of sensible headings to the sections paves the way for the better ranking in "Search Engines Result Positions".

8.Tables and forms

All of the input elements in the forms on this site are marked up with label tags. These provide several benefits:

  • Users who have difficulty navigating through a form with a mouse can, for example, click on the text beside the form elements, such as text input boxes, in order to enter those elements.
  • The use of label tags allows screen readers to intelligently announce what a particular input element is, by reading the label.
  • All tables containing key content are marked with a summary, so that screen readers and speech browsers read a description of the contents of tables when they first come across them

9.Tab index Navigation

All the input elements in the forms on this site are given proper tab index values.

Tab index provision provide several benefits:

  • It provides keyboard navigation to the input control elements in the form.
  • By using these, the user can easily navigate from one input element to the other and also the screen readers announce the particular input element by reading the label aloud.

10.Ajax Degrades Gracefully

The Ajax support in this site degrades gracefully. So, even if you visit the site with JavaScript turned off, the site will completely be accessible for you.

Users with JavaScript enabled browser will have access to the rich Ajax user experience.

The link to the "Accessibility Statement" at the Footer helps to the physically and visually challenged people about how to read the contents easily with out and difficulties.

Also the Sitemap link at every page helps for the people with Cognitive difficulties.
